The Kumo Vase

When designing a new piece for a collection, every detail matters, and the Kumo Vase is no exception. Inspired by the beauty of clouds, this unique vase captures their essence in a tangible form. But how did we bring this design to life?

Observing The Sky

Before design comes observation. We studied the sky, exploring various cloud formations. From fluffy cumulus clouds to wispy cirrus clouds, each type provided unique visual textures and shapes that could be translated into distinct designs.

Embracing Organic Shapes

Clouds are renowned for their soft, billowy forms that shift with the wind. Incorporating these organic shapes into our designs creates a sense of movement, fluidity, and softness. The vase's curves and contours echo the natural forms of clouds, giving it a dynamic and captivating appearance.

Balancing Inspiration With Function

In design, finding the balance between functionality and inspiration is crucial. Mimicking the organic shapes of clouds creates an emotional resonance, but the object must still function as a vase. Achieving this duality—maintaining both functionality and the evocative nature of organic shapes—requires skill honed through trial and error. It involves seeing the whole picture, integrating each piece of inspiration, and assembling them into a cohesive creation.

After much thought and many sketches, the Kumo Vase was born.
